The EFORT Roller Hemming Head is a patented robotic solution developed for flexible, high-quality closure-panel hemming within Body-in-White production.

The roller head does not require an independent powered drive. The hemming roller is driven through contact with the component, simplifying the architecture and reducing the utilities required on the robot.

The absence of conventional robot dress packages reduces integration complexity and improves accessibility around the complete panel perimeter.

Compact tool architecture is particularly suitable for restricted geometries such as tailgate lamp areas and door window compartments.

  • Outer-panel flange pre-bending from 145 degrees to 105 degrees;
  • Up to two pre-bending passes;
  • Final roller hemming from 105 degrees to 0 degrees;
  • Minimum three hemming passes;
  • First pass: 105 degrees to 60 degrees;
  • Second pass: 60 degrees to 30 degrees;
  • Third pass: 30 degrees to 0 degrees.

  • Maximum linear speed up to 700 mm/s;
  • Typical average speed around 350 mm/s;
  • Maximum load up to 200 kg per linear centimeter;
  • Up to five roller tools on the same head;
  • Orthogonal roller orientation relative to the flange;
  • Pre-rolling and final hemming can be combined in one station for lower-volume production.

EFORT applies a standardized offline-programming methodology to verify robot trajectories, tool orientation and process accessibility before site commissioning.

This approach supports consistent final-part quality and reduces optimization activities during installation.
